The Fort Lauderdale Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) recognized Daniel Harwin, Esq., founding partner of Fort Lauderdale-basedFreedland Harwin Valori, PL (FHV) as Attorney of the Year. Harwin was honored at ABOTA’s Jan. 24 Annual Judges' Night & Installation Dinner at the Tower Club in Fort Lauderdale.

“I’m honored to be named Attorney of the Year by The Fort Lauderdale Chapter of ABOTA,” said Harwin. “To be recognized among members of this organization, who all must exhibit the virtues of civility, integrity and professionalism by following ABOTA’s Code of Professionalism and Principles of Civility, is very exciting.”

In addition, the Honorable Jeffrey R. Levenson, a criminal division judge of the 17th Judicial Circuit Court in Florida, was recognized as Judge of the Year at the Jan. 24 event.

Founded in 1958, ABOTA, an invitation-only organization, is a national association of experienced trial lawyers and judges. ABOTA and its members are dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the civil jury trial right provided by the Seventh Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. ABOTA membership consists of more than 7,600 lawyers — equally balanced between plaintiff and defense — and judges spread among 96 chapters in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Harwin represents victims of medical malpractice and clients who have been wrongfully injured in catastrophic accidents. He also handles personal injury matters, pharmaceutical liability and cases involving nursing home and assisted living neglect and abuse. He has achieved multi-million dollar settlements on behalf of his clients.

When he is not in trial, Harwin lobbies for the rights of consumers as a member of the Florida Justice Association’s Medical Malpractice Committee. He is also a member of the American Association of Justice Birth Trauma Litigation Group.

Harwin earned his J.D. from the University of Miami, and his Bachelor of Arts with honors from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. He is a member of The Florida Bar and is admitted into the U.S. District Court Southern District of Florida.
