Fowler Grows Maritime Practice With Addition Of Two Shareholders

Fowler White Burnett is pleased to announce that Cameron Eubanks and Victor J. Pelaez have joined the firm as Shareholders in the Maritime Practice Group. Both Shareholders have vast experience in civil litigation, with an emphasis on matters pertaining to the maritime and admiralty industry.Fowler, now in its 76th year of operation, has one of Florida's longest standing and preeminent maritime practice groups that is part of a full-service law firm.

Eubanks has significant experience representing clients in federal and Florida trial and appellate courts, including all aspects of appellate practice and complex litigation support and strategy after having led the appellate group at his prior firm. Cameron focuses on significant appellate and trial-level maritime and admiralty matters and has years of experience representing all the major cruise lines in South Florida. His practice has led to numerous recent developments in the law relating to cruise line personal injury claims and crew member arbitration. He also interned for the Honorable Adalberto Jordan in the United States District Court for the Southern District, and has interned at the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida.

Eubanks graduated magna cum laude from the University Miami School of Law where he was a member of the University of Miami Law Review, and his case note was chosen for publication. He was also selected to the Order of the Coif, an honor society for excellence in legal education.

An experienced trial lawyer, Pelaez focuses his practice in maritime and admiralty, complex business disputes, and international litigation. He represents clients in both civil lawsuits and private arbitrations involving personal injury claims, wrongful death claims, crew member claims, breach of contract claims, business torts, copyright infringement claims, construction claims, and real estate disputes. He has handled numerous multi-million dollar lawsuits on behalf of Fortune 500 companies, major cruise lines, national banks, and real estate developers and has vast experience handling both domestic and cross-border litigation matters for Latin American corporations and investors.

He earned his law degree at Florida International University College of Law. Before that, he graduated cum laude from Florida International University earning a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and a minor in Business Administration. Pelaez is a member of the Florida Bar, Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute, Hispanic National Bar Association, Cuban American Bar Association, and Dade County Bar Association.
