Zumpano Patricios is pleased to announce that it has welcomed several noted attorneys to its offices across the nation—Matthew M. Fischer has joined the firm’s Miami headquarters, Dawn Call has joined the firm’s Salt Lake City Office, and Nicholas Rostow and Luis Calvo have joined the firm’s New York Office. “Our recent hires are reflective of the talents and diversity of our firm,” Zumpano Patricios Founder and President Joseph Zumpano stated. “As we continue to expand across the nation, we are attracting attorneys at the height of their careers and at the highest levels of professional achievement.”

Fischer, who joins the Miami Office as an Income Partner, has more than a decade of experience in state, federal and administrative proceedings. Prior to joining the U.S. Department of Health and Human Resources (HHS), he served as an Assistant General Counsel in the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. He has also served as Senior Attorney Advisor in the Office of Medicare Hearings and Appeals within HHS. In these roles, he worked on counterterrorism investigations, defended the FBI in civil litigation matters, and prosecuted narcotics distribution, weapons possession and various theft related offenses.

Call, who joins the Salt Lake City Office (Zumpano Patricios & Helsten, LLC) as a Senior Partner, has 24 years of experience as an accomplished business counselor. She served as the Vice President and General Counsel of an international government contractor for 16 years, managing the legal, risk management, and internal audit departments. She offers outside general counsel services providing strategic advice in all areas that affect businesses on a regular basis, including general business, commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, contracts, procurement, real estate, risk management, governance, and regulatory and litigation matters. Her legal experience and knowledge are greatly assisted by her business background as a Certified Public Accountant with a Master of Business Administration. Salt Lake City’s Managing Executive, Bradley R. Helsten noted, “Dawn brings a breadth of experience in business transactions, corporate management and governance and real estate, which will increase the firm’s capacity to provide high quality, professional legal services to our growing corporate, business and real estate practice.”

Rostow, who joins the New York Office (Zumpano Patricios & Popok, PLLC) as a Senior Partner, has a storied career spanning multiple decades of public service at the highest levels on behalf of our nation. He served as the Special Assistant for National Security Affairs to both U.S. Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H. Bush from 1987-1993. During that period of our nation’s history, he also served as Legal Advisor to the National Security Council. Recently, he served as the Evans Hughes Visiting Professor of Government and Jurisprudence at Colgate University (2016-2018) and as the Sol. M. Linowitz Visiting Professor at Hamilton College (Spring 2018).

Calvo, who joins the New York Office as a Senior Associate, focuses on commercial and business dispute litigation, trials and arbitration in the areas of employment, commercial law, financial services, securities, real estate and intellectual property. Previously, he worked at the New York branch of a major European bank where he advised on credit agreements, securities offerings and banking and regulatory issues. Calvo is licensed in both New York and Mexico, and began his career working at a global law firm’s Mexico City office litigating government procurement and antitrust matters on behalf of global companies, including in the areas of pharmaceuticals, food and energy.

“The firm’s unique global ethos and ‘tone from the top’ of thought leadership by senior management in unique and complex practice areas continues to attract star talent, including in the New York market,” said New York Managing Partner, Michael S. Popok.

“Our recent hires reflect the skills and philosophies that have made Zumpano Patricios the firm it is today,” Zumpano continued. “We look forward to providing our clients with the unique blend of experience, leadership, results-driven representation offered by the firm.”
