Attorney Denise Georges at Coral Gables-based law firm Colson Hicks Eidson, was selected by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for its prestigious “40 Under 40 Outstanding Lawyers in South Florida” recognition. The award recognizes 40 outstanding lawyers in South Florida under the age of 40 who are committed to improving the community and dedicated to providing outstanding legal service.

Georges will be honored at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s 11th annual awards ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach.

Established in 1955, the mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is to cure cystic fibrosis and to provide all people with the disease the opportunity to lead full, productive lives by funding research and drug development, promoting individualized treatments, and ensuring access to high quality, specialized care. For the past 10 years, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has recognized 40 lawyers under the age of 40 as a way to honor exceptional lawyers in the community while raising funds to support the foundation, the driving force behind the pursuit to find a cure.

“I am extremely humbled and honored to be recognized by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and to be in the company of my fellow honorees,” said Georges. “I am also proud to do my part to help raise awareness to improve treatments and fund a cure for such an imperative disease that affects so many.”

A litigation lawyer, Georges practices in the areas of medical malpractice, personal injury, premises liability, and product liability. Since joining Colson Hicks Eidson, she has represented victims that have been catastrophically injured as a result of negligence. A natural trial lawyer, she advocates for her clients and for those without a voice across the country and has negotiated substantial settlements to make a difference in her clients’ lives.

Prior to joining the firm in April 2016, Georges served as an Assistant State Attorney (ASA) for Miami-Dade County for eight years. During her time at the state attorney’s office, Georges developed a valuable skill set in victim advocacy and tried over 40 jury trials to verdict and over 50 bench trials as an ASA. In addition, as a Felony Division Chief, Georges tried a multitude of cases including murder and DUI manslaughter. In 2016, she was recognized by the Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and received the Prosecution of Excellence Award for her diligence in handling high-profile cases.

Georges attended the Pennsylvania State University where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in crime, law and justice and a minor in sociology. She also received her Juris Doctor from Widener University of Law. Georges is licensed to practice law in Florida and Pennsylvania. As a Syrian-American, she speaks Arabic fluently. Georges is also a member of the American Association of Justice, Dade-County Bar Association and Florida Association of Women Lawyers, Miami-Dade Chapter.
