Careaga Plastic Surgery (CPS) proudly announces Dr. Paul D. Durand, MD as the practice’s new surgeon. On May 30th, CPS hosted an event to officially unveil the new and high-tech surgical center and to announce the addition of its newest surgeon.
“As we continue to expand our practice, we have been looking for a plastic and reconstructive surgeon that is aligned with our vision of providing patients with optimal safety and care while providing results that patients are happy with. We are extremely excited to be officially adding Dr. Paul Durand to the Careaga Plastic Surgery team. He is an impressive surgeon that has consistently received top rankings during his residency and advanced fellowship training,” said Dr. Daniel Careaga, founder and double-board certified plastic surgeon at Careaga Plastic Surgery. “We look forward to having his cosmetic and reconstructive expertise within our practice.”
Dr. Durand enjoys working closely with patients to help them achieve their aesthetic and reconstructive goals. At Careaga Plastic Surgery, Dr. Durand will specialize in surgical procedures of the face, breast and body, as well as rhinoplasty (nose) surgery, a service that is new to CPS.
Dr. Durand obtained his plastic surgery training at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic, which has consistently ranked amongst the top two hospitals in the world. After graduating from Indiana University School of Medicine, Dr. Durand was selected as one of the two Integrated Plastic Surgery Residency positions at the Cleveland Clinic, one of the most prestigious institutions in the industry. In his final year of training, he was elected to serve as Chief Resident.
Dr. Durand has a wealth of experience in dealing with complex cosmetic and reconstructive cases. In prior years, he was part of the team that successfully performed the first face transplant in the United States. His second face transplant received significant media attention since the patient had been the youngest person in the world to undergo such an extensive procedure. In addition to complex reconstructive surgery, Dr. Durand was able to tailor a great part of his training to aesthetic surgery of the face and body, as well as non-invasive procedures such as injectables and lasers.

Dr. Durand has a passion for international mission work particularly within South America, completing his 7th mission trip earlier this year. Born in Miami, Florida but raised in Lima, Peru, Dr. Durand is fluent in both English and Spanish.
