The law firm of Colson Hicks Eidson is pleased to announce that attorney Susan S. Carlson has been named partner.

Carlson joined Colson Hicks Eidson in July 2014.With more than 20 years of experience, she specializes in catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, maritime, product liability, and commercial and class action litigation in state and federal courts throughout Florida. She has also represented individuals and companies in business disputes, including disability and construction defect matters.

Carlson’s efforts have been instrumental in the success of many of the firm’s high-profile cases securing numerous million dollar personal injury settlements and verdicts, including a $20.3 million dollar verdict against a cruise line for a crew member whose hand was trapped in a semi-water tight door and a $1.43 million dollar verdict for a client who suffered a tibial plateau fracture as a result of an automobile accident.

A native of Miami and an active member of manylegal and community organizations, Carlson has served on the board of directors for the Miami-Dade Justice Association and Miami Country Day School’s Alumni Board. She was appointed to serve as a Guardian Ad Litem in the 11th Judicial Circuit to protect children’s interests. She is a member of The Florida Bar andhas participated in the Put Something Back program. Additionally, Carlson has also served the community through her volunteer work for The Heidi Hewes Chapter of the Women’s Cancer Association of the University of Miami in addition to the Community Partnership for the Homeless, among other organizations.

Carlson earned her law degree at the University of Miami, where she actively participated in mock trial, moot court and negotiations competitions. She also holds a business degree in finance from Emory University. Prior to completing law school, Carlson worked as a securities analyst for an investment counseling firm in Atlanta, Ga., serving both individuals and institutional clients.
