Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman announces that Eric Kay, Richard Rosengarten and Chanae Wood have joined the firm as associates. Kay and Rosengarten are both part of the Litigation Division and Appellate Practice Group, focusing on municipal and commercial litigation and appeals. Wood will be working with the Public Land Use Practice Group.
“The addition of these three dynamic young attorneys provides greater strength across several practice areas,” said firm member Ed Guedes, who heads the Appellate Practice Group. “With Eric and Richard reinforcing our Appellate Practice Group, we now have more depth than ever in that area. Their joining comes on the heels of the Appellate Practice Group’s achievement in 2017 of being ranked a National Tier 1 practice by U.S. News & World Report/Best Lawyers. Chanae will similarly have an immediate impact on the firm’s public land use representation, as the firm continues to expand its representation of local governments throughout Florida. We are thrilled to have such talented young lawyers join our ranks.”
Before joining the firm, Kay served as a law clerk to Judge D. Michael Fisher of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He later served as a law clerk to Judge James I. Cohn of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Kay received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif.
Rosengarten served as a law clerk to the Honorable James Lawrence King of the United States District Court, Southern District of Florida prior to joining the firm. He earned his JD from the University of Miami School of Law, where he was editor-in-chief of the University of Miami Law Review and worked as a Dean’s Fellow teaching property law to first-year students.
Wood comes to the firm following a year at Greenspoon Marder as a law clerk. She gained valuable experience interning for the Honorable Marcia G. Cooke at the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. She earned her J.D. from St. Thomas School of Law where she was Editor-in-Chief of the St. Thomas Law Review.
