Colson Hicks Eidson Adds Litigator Lazaro Fields

The law firm of Colson Hicks Eidson today announced that attorney Lazaro Fields has joined the firm as an associate. Prior to joining Colson Hicks Eidson, Fields was a law clerk for the Honorable United States District Judge Federico A. Moreno of the Southern District of Florida. He focuses his practice on personal injury, commercial and class action litigation.

“Lazaro is a rising star and we are very pleased to welcome him to the team,” said partner Dean Colson. “His enthusiasm for the law coupled with his well-rounded experience working with judicial and governmental officials will serve as an asset to our team and our clients.”

Fields received his law degree, magna cum laude, from Florida State University College of Law as a member of the Order of the Coif honor society. He also served as a member of the law school’s moot court team and as editor of the Florida State Journal of Land Use & Environmental Law. He earned his bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from Florida State University.

While attending law school, Fields was selected by Governor Rick Scott as a Florida Gubernatorial Fellow where he worked under the Secretary of the Agency for Health Care Administration, participated in service projects, and met weekly with heads of state government. He also served as an analyst for the Judiciary Committee of the Florida House of Representatives where he researched and drafted criminal and civil legislation. During his time with the Florida House, he helped craft legislation to comply with the United States Supreme Court’s decision in Hurst v. Florida, striking down Florida’s capital sentencing scheme.

Prior to law school, Fields served as a legislative aide to State Representative Carlos Trujillo and worked for Secretary Rick Perry during his run for president in 2012.

A Miami native, Fields is a member of the Federalist Society, Best Buddies, and the Belen Jesuit Alumni Association, and is fluent in Spanish.
