Presented by Holy Cross Hospital, the 2018 Fall Stroke Symposium will offer an educational and networking forum for attendees to hear from experts and learn more about stroke risks and treatments.
Holy Cross is accredited by the Florida Medical Association to provide continuing medical education for physicians and nurses. The 2018 Fall Stroke Symposium educational activity is approved for up to four category-one credits under the standards of the American Medical Association’s Physician’s Recognition Award program, and for six nursing contact hours by the Florida Board of Nursing.
The program is designed for physicians, medical residents, nurses, emergency medical service (EMS) providers and other stroke/neurology healthcare providers. Keynote speakers from the Holy Cross Medical Group and others include:
· Calimar Morales-Sanchez, a speech pathologist who will examine the importance of dysphagia screening in all stroke patients
· Justin Boise, a stroke-certified nurse will explore hemorrhagic strokes for nurses
· Dr. Phyllis Bulkan, a physical medicine and rehab specialist will discuss stroke rehabilitation
· Dr. Catalina Ionita, A neurointensivist will discuss subarachnoid strokes
· Dr. Laszlo Miskolczi, a neuro-interventional radiologist that will comprehend the new 24-hour time window for acute stroke treatment
· And Dr. Robert Starke, a neurosurgery specialist who will survey the multi-modality treatment of cerebral vascular disease
