Broward Health North Hosts “Spike Out Stroke Day” Offering Free Health Screenings and an Educational Lecture

Who: Broward Health North to host “Spike Out Stroke Day” - offering free health screenings followed by an educational lecture. Neurologist Celso Agner, M.D., will conduct a lecture on Stroke: Signs and Symptoms. He will also discuss how to recognize if you or a loved one is having a stroke and why it is important to dial 911 immediately.

What: The event includes free health screening and lecture. Screenings include blood sugar and cholesterol, memory tests, stroke-risk assessments, and sleep apnea assessments. To RSVP, please call 954-759-7400 and choose option 5. The event is free and complimentary valet parking is available.

When: On Wednesday, May 23, 2018. Screening from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Lecture from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Where: Broward Health North’s Conference Center, located at 201 E. Sample Road, Deerfield Beach, FL 33064.

Why: According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, stroke is the fifth leading cause of death in the United States and occurs every 45 seconds. The Comprehensive Stroke team at Broward Health North is working to “spike out” strokes through prevention and education.
