The Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) has awarded the North Broward Hospital District (d/b/a Broward Health) the 2017 Health Center Quality Improvement Award.
As a Health Center Quality Leader, Broward Health achieved the best overall clinical performance among all health centers, placing in the top 30 percent of the adjusted quartile rankings for clinical quality measures. Broward Health was awarded $22,723 as a one-time grant supplement in recognition of the hospital system’s achievements in expanding access to care, improving care quality and outcomes, increasing comprehensive care delivery in a cost-effective way and addressing health disparities.
For FY 2017, HRSA awarded nearly $105 million in one-time, supplemental Quality Improvement Awards to 1,333 health centers in all U.S. states, territories and the District of Columbia as an investment in quality improvement.
“We are honored to be included among the nation’s Health Quality Leaders,” said Broward Health President/CEO Beverly Capasso. “We have earned this prestigious recognition due to the life-saving, compassionate care we offer patients every day, and we will continue to serve the South Florida community and beyond, ensuring quality healthcare is accessible to all.”
HRSA established the annual recognition and quality improvement fund to further its commitment to improve the overall quality, efficiency and value of healthcare services for millions of patients served at health centers. These awards recognize the highest performing health centers nationwide, as well as those health centers that have made significant quality improvement gains from the preceding year.
