Michael P. Dunn, Esq., partner; and Alexis Read, Esq., attorney; both of Dunn Law, PA in Miami, recently represented Oxnard, California-based Lazer Broadcasting Corp. and Lazer Licenses LLC in the $2.35 million acquisition of nine radio stations located throughout California. The acquisition closed on Jan. 11, 2018. The radio stations, formerly owned by Casa Media Partners, LLC, were acquired in a Section 363 auction sale in a pending Chapter 11 bankruptcy in Miami-Dade County.
Through the assistance of Craig A. Pugatch, Esq., shareholder at Rice Pugatch Robinson Storfer & Cohen PLLC, who represented the secured creditor Bank of Commerce, and their respective FCC counsels, the parties quickly and efficiently obtained an FCC grant for the assignment of the radio stations. All of the stations serve the Hispanic market.
Casa Media Partners previously operated several radio stations in California before filing for Chapter 11 in April 2015. The acquisition adds to the 28 stations which Lazer already owns and operates. Lazer delivers radio programming across 15 cities on the U.S. West Coast.
The stations which Lazer acquired are KIQQ (1310 AM) of Barstow, KIQQ (103.7 FM) of Newberry Springs, KAEH (100.9 FM) of Beaumont, KMQA (100.5 FM) of East Porterville, KMEN (100.5 FM) of Mendota, KTNS (1060 AM) of Oakhurst, KAAT (103.1 FM) of Oakhurst, KAAT-FM1 (103.1 FM) of Merced, and K282AE (104.3 FM) of Oakhurst.
