Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency (LAORA) awarded Broward Health Imperial Point the “Hospital Achievement Award” at its “Miracles for Life” Awards Luncheon held at the Marriot Harbor Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale on November 3rd. The recognition highlights the hospital’s extraordinary efforts to attain a 100 percent conversion rate in matching organ and tissue donors to recipients in a timely manner, allowing for a successful transfer.
“We are both honored and proud to have received this award which recognizes our commitment to successful organ transplantation. Our goal is to provide patients with the opportunity for the ‘miracle’ of continued life and health,” stated Barbara Donnelly, Broward Health Imperial Point’s ICU nurse manager who was on hand to receive the award.
LAORA, a division of the Daughtry Family department of Surgery at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, is one of the nation’s 58 federally designated organ recovery agencies certified and regulated by the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS). It is a tax-exempt, nonprofit service organization that has the unique role of saving lives through organ donation and transplantation, as well as providing organs and tissues for research to advance medical science.
