Classes scheduled for Thursday, October 19 and Thursday, November 16
Non-profit Holy Cross Hospital is offering free healthy cooking classes to the community on Thursday, October 19 and Thursday, November 16 at 2:30 p.m. in the Fresh Inspirations Café at the Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women's Center at Holy Cross HealthPlex, 1000 N.E. 56th St. in Fort Lauderdale.
The classes, hosted by executive chef Ricardo Baquero and registered dietitian/nutritionist Kelly Kugler, will feature cooking demonstrations, food samples and take-homerecipe cards for participants. October’s class will focus on cooking with cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, and kale, and November’s class will focus on healthy holiday cooking.

The Fresh Inspirations Café at the Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women's Center is open to the public for breakfast and lunch, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The spacious, quick-service restaurant includes a teaching kitchen and offers made-on-site menu items such as Starbucks coffee and espresso, fresh fruit cups and parfaits, hot breakfast cereals, grilled chicken quesadillas and individual pizzas, hot soups, and grab-and-go sandwiches, wraps and salads. Nutritional information is available for most items.
