Robinson+Cole Adds 12 Litigation Lawyers to NY and Miami Offices

8/31/17

Lawrence Klein, Michael Bernstein, Greg Lahr, and Gilbert Lee join the firm as partners

Robinson+Cole is pleased to announce the addition of twelve lawyers to the firm’s newly expanded New York and Miami offices. The four partners, one counsel, and seven associates substantially increase the firm’s litigation depth in a significant range of practices as it continues to grow to better serve clients across a broader geographic market.

Among the lawyers, all of whom are formerly with Sedgwick LLP, are Lawrence Klein and Michael H. Bernstein who have joined the firm as partners in the New York office.

Lawrence Klein has a long and distinguished career in insurance coverage and construction litigation. He currently represents insurers of multiple opioid manufacturers, distributors, and retailers in coverage matters relating to litigation against these entities, and he has a large national practice that has also included litigation arising out of construction defects such as the CityCenter development in Las Vegas and environmental catastrophes such as the 2014 Elk River spill in Charleston, West Virginia.

Michael Bernstein has a national practice involving litigation arising out of employee health care and benefits plans, and he has handled many of the country’s cutting edge cases in these areas. His addition, along with that of Matthew P. Mazzola and Jovana Vuyovic (who have joined the firm as associates in New York) and Jeannine Jacobson (who will be joining the firm as counsel in Miami), rounds out a very robust Health + Benefits Litigation team which welcomed Patrick W. Begos earlier this year.

“We are thrilled to welcome these accomplished lawyers to Robinson+Cole,” said Stephen E. Goldman, the firm’s managing partner. “The breadth of their experience hits multiple markers for us. It adds significant depth to our offices in New York and Miami, increases our overall litigation capacity, and also strengthens and diversifies our insurance coverage and health and benefits litigation practices. These additions are a great boost to our firm at a time when we are already doing extraordinarily well.”

“I couldn't be more impressed with the quality of Robinson+Cole’s lawyers, their camaraderie, and strong leadership. The firm has nationally recognized practices in litigation and insurance, and we are building on that strength,” said Mr. Klein. “For many years, Robinson+Cole has been known to have one of the leading property insurance practices in the country. I look forward to introducing my clients to the firm's noteworthy experience in that area and to providing a broader range of services to the firm's existing clients.”

“The opportunity to combine my practice and my team with the existing team at Robinson+Cole is very exciting,” said Mr. Bernstein. “This move creates the opportunity to provide our clients with a tremendous range of depth and experience in the area of health and benefits litigation that few, if any, other firms can offer."

Robinson+Cole’s New York office also welcomes Gregory Lahr and Gilbert Lee as partners. Mr. Lahr's practice focuses on a broad range of insurance coverage and construction litigation throughout the United States. He also has significant experience handling employment litigation. Mr. Lee also has a broad based national litigation practice that focuses principally on insurance coverage and construction litigation.

In addition, Daniel E. Bryer, Peter M. Fabiankovic, Marc E. Haas, Soo Y. Kim, and Cara C. Vecchione have joined the firm as associates in the New York office.
