Fowler White Burnett announces that Nera Shefer has joined the firm’s Miami office as a Shareholder in its Immigration Practice Group. Shefer represents clients in connection with a broad range of business immigration matters, including, but not limited, to: employment immigration, investment treaty E2 & E1 visas, transferee executive visa L1A, special knowledge employee visa LIB, professional or skilled worker visa HlB, religious personnel visa R, artists and performers visas 0 & P, trainee visas H3 & J1, green card through employment (EB5 1M investment, labor certification (PERM), EB1 extraordinary ability, EB2 exceptional ability or advanced degree), family immigration & petitions (spouses of US citizens and residents, children of U.S. citizens and resident, parents of U.S. citizens, and siblings of U.S. citizens), green card through family (adjustment of status and consular processing), U & Vawa petitions, Daca and naturalizations. Her practice also includes administrative appeals and federal litigation through writ of mandamus.

Shefer represents foreign citizens in their visa applications as investors, individuals with extraordinary and exceptional abilities in different disciplines and fields, talent, group performance and more. She also represents U.S. companies in their petitions for temporary and permanent professional and skilled workers, as well as affiliates and subsidiary of foreign companies in their transfers of their essential employees and special knowledge personnel to the U.S. As part of her immigration practice, she lobbies important issues for the community such as temporary and permanent immigration benefits for undocumented youthsthat arrived in the U.S. while minors.In the Spring of 2012, Shefer won the first DACA benefit for an undocumented youth living in the US and her case became precedence for the Executive Action issued in the summer of 2012 that made DACA available for all undocumented youth who arrived to the US while being minors.

Afrequent contributor to the Huffington Post, (Huff Voices), Shefer is often consulted by national, international and local TV networks, newspapers, and radio stations on immigration issues and public policy. She received her Juris Doctor degree from St. Thomas University School of Law after having also attended the UniversidaddelNorte Law School in Barranquilla, Colombia. Shefer is fluent in Spanish.
