Lawyers Associated Worldwide (LAW) elected Florida attorney Kathleen Deutsch to a two-year term as chair of the Executive Committee for the international legal network. She is the first female chair of LAW. The election was held at the 2016 Annual General Meeting (AGM) in London on Oct. 22. Her firm, Broad and Cassel, has been a member of the organization since 2005. LAW is a global association of nearly 100 independent law firms located in over 50 countries. With access to 4000 lawyers worldwide, membership in LAW allows member firms to service the legal needs of clients that are expanding their operations and relationships into new domestic and foreign markets.
Ms. Deutsch is a partner at the law firm of Broad and Cassel in West Palm Beach. A member of the firm’s Corporate and Securities and International Law practice groups, Ms. Deutsch represents a large number of entrepreneurial clients. She has represented a wide variety of both publicly and privately held businesses in mergers and acquisitions, public and private offerings of securities, joint ventures and general corporate matters. She also regularly advises companies on compliance with their reporting obligations under the Securities Exchange Act, including compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and corporate governance requirements. Ms. Deutsch is an AV-rated attorney by Martindale Hubbell, achieving the agency’s highest marks for both competency and ethics.
She previously served as the LAW vice chair from 2014 until her election in London in October. Prior to her service as vice chair, she was a regional representative for the Americas region of LAW.
“It’s quite an honor to be stepping into this significant leadership role for a global organization,” said Ms. Deutsch. “More and more, the practice of law is becoming a very international business. For independent firms, LAW provides them with the opportunity to have affiliates and partners all over the world - ultimately, allowing them to remain effective in an ever-changing legal environment.”
