Managing Director Gordon Messinger will Lead Project Leasing for Iconic Office Building
Cushman & Wakefield announced today that it has been named exclusive office leasing agent for Miami Tower, an iconic 47-story Class A trophy office building owned by New York-based Sumitomo Corporation of Americas (SCOA).
Managing Director Gordon Messinger will lease the building for SCOA, U.S. subsidiary of Sumitomo Corporation, which is one of the world’s leading traders of goods and services headquartered in Japan. SCOA acquired Miami Tower in May 2016 and has already announced plans to modernize the building’s Sky Lobby and common areas.
“Miami Tower is the most recognizable building in Miami’s skyline, and I look forward to helping Sumitomo bring the asset to its full potential,” said Messinger. “The asset offers tenants great amenities, exceptional 360-degree views of the city and Biscayne Bay, a premier location with the best access in the Miami CBD, landmark status and an infusion of energy on the part of new ownership.”
Miami Tower is a 631,672-square-foot office tower featuring 37 stories of Class A office space atop a 10-story, 1,500-space parking garage; ground-level retail; and direct access to the adjacent Hyatt Regency Miami. It is the only building in the Miami CBD that houses a dedicated Metromover station. The building was designed by famed architect I.M. Pei and opened in 1987.
Miami Tower’s amenities include two cafés, an executive health and fitness club, a dry cleaner, multiple ATMs, 24/7 security and card-key access and fiber-equipped office suites. The modernization of Miami Tower’s Sky Lobby is underway and a new tenant lounge is expected to open by spring of 2017. The building’s $1.5 million exterior LED lighting system has become a staple of the Miami skyline, and the building has been featured in numerous high profile television shows and films.
Notable tenants in the building include TotalBank and UBS Financial as well as national and regional law firms such as Carlton Fields, P.A., Boies Schiller & Flexner LLP, Wilson Elser LLP, Genovese Joblove & Battista, P.A. and Ver Ploeg & Lumpkin, P.A.
Miami Tower’s location at 100 SE 2nd Street in Miami’s CBD offers exceptional access to Interstate 95, Miami International Airport, Miami Beach and the myriad of surrounding luxury hotels, restaurants, shops and residential developments.
Sumitomo also announced that CBRE will assume retail leasing responsibilities at Miami Tower and Transwestern will now manage the asset.
