274 Difference Makers in the Fight Against Drunk Driving Were Honored

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Florida hosted its 16th Annual Recognition Dinner and Training Program to honor Law Enforcement, First Responders, State Attorneys and Volunteers for being difference makers in the fight against drunk driving and underage drinking August 5 at the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six. The keynote speakers included MADD’s very own national president Colleen Sheehey-Church; David Pinsker, Florida State Executive Director, and Sergeant Donald Prichard, D.U.I. Task Force & Traffic Homicide Investigations, Broward Sheriff’s Office. There were over 375 guests in attendance.

The dinner featured the 274 difference makers that took initiative to reduce the nearly 10,000 drunk driving related deaths annually and 290,000 drunk driving-related injuries that are 100 percent avoidable. Sponsors of the 16th Annual Recognition dinner included Florida Department of Transportation, Star & Shield, ADT, Memorial Healthcare System, and Broward Sheriff’s Office.

“It was a privilege for MADD to recognize the outstanding service of Florida’s elite members of Law Enforcement, First Responders, and State Attorneys for 2015 as well as our amazing Florida MADD volunteers, all of whom serve to keep the communities across our state safe,” said Dave Pinsker, the Florida State Executive Director of MADD.

MADD continues to advocate for the fight against drunk driving and bring awareness to the community. Their continued education on the risks of impaired driving and ability to facilitate events that continue to bring the community together is the reason MADD is the largest non-profit working to guard families from drunk driving and underage drinking.
