Veteran Agent and Former Pro-Golfer Joins Leading Real Estate Firm in Palm Beach
Douglas Elliman welcomes Gary Pohrer as Director of Luxury Sales at the company’s Palm Beach office, located at 340 Royal Poinciana Way #318 in Palm Beach, Florida 33480. In this new position, Pohrer will focus his efforts on luxury condo and waterfront homes in the area, and help continue to grow the company’s Palm Beach presence. The former professional golfer has over 14 years’ experience in the real estate industry, with record sales inclusive of oceanfront residences from Manalapan to North Palm Beach, totaling $115 million in the last 18 months alone.

Pohrer’s appointment follows the latest stats showing median luxury sales prices in Palm Beach surging 45% to over $10M, according to a Q2 2016 South Florida Market Report issued by Douglas Elliman in conjunction with Samuel Miller. These rising prices reflected the shift to larger sized sales, as the average luxury sale was 7,387 square feet, 40.6% larger than one year prior. As Director of Luxury Sales, Pohrer will concentrate on leveraging these numbers, securing additional luxury listings, and increasing overall sales for the booming Palm Beach area.

Hailing from St. Louis, Missouri, Gary relocated to John’s Island in Vero Beach, Florida, to pursue a career as a professional golfer. A golf enthusiast since the age of three, Pohrer’s passions later shifted from golf to real estate, when he moved to Jupiter, Florida. As a Palm Beach resident for the past 10 years, Gary is keenly aware of the small island’s intricacies, along with the highlights that differentiate one neighborhood from another. Residents often see Pohrer jogging through the area, which he says is the best way to gain insight into real estate.
Prior to joining Douglas Elliman, Pohrer held positions with Cocoran Group and Fite Shavell & Associates, before opening K2 Realty in Palm Beach, where he served as managing director. Gary earned a Finance degree in Economics from Spring Hill, and currently resides in Palm Beach with his wife and fellow associate, Kelly. Together, they are also involved in fund-raising for Adopt-A- Family of the Palm Beaches, a charitable organization dedicated to helping homeless families. His hobbies include biking, tennis, boating, and paddle boarding.
