Miami-based law firm honored for its partnership with local school

The School Board of Miami-Dade County presented Miami-based law firm Bilzin Sumberg with a proclamation for the Firm's extensive work with Scott Lake Elementary, a Montessori magnet school with a speech and language special education program located in Miami Gardens. The proclamation was presented by Dr. Holloway and received by Bilzin Sumberg land development lawyer, Brian S. Adler.

As part of Bilzin Sumberg Cares, the Firm partnered with Scott Lake Elementary for a project that called for physical improvements of the school through the participation of Firm volunteers and the use of financial resources.

On February 20, 2016, 100 Bilzin Sumberg employees, including attorneys, staff and families, gathered at the school with paintbrushes, gardening tools and smiles for the annual Bilzin Sumberg Cares Project Day. Bilzin Sumberg employees and their families assisted with painting murals, building new seating throughout the school, planting in the gardens, and revamping the basketball court.

Pasternack, a Partner in the Corporate Group and Chair of the Bilzin Sumberg Cares community initiative. “Our volunteers are comprised of a dedicated team of Bilzin Sumberg attorneys and their families who together seek to make a positive impact on the lives of others. We are proud of our efforts at Scott Lake Elementary and look forward to taking on similar projects within our community.”

This was the firm's ninth Project Day, an annual event in which the firm partners with a local organization for a day of philanthropic outreach.

The school's goal is to work in collaborative partnerships with all stakeholders, including parents, business liaisons, and community partners to create an environment where students are empowered to discover their strengths and to achieve their maximum potential through multiple exposures to rigorous standards based curriculum. Scott Lake Elementary is a place where all students are encouraged to strive for excellence academically, socially, and emotionally in a safe and supportive atmosphere.
