Global law firm K&L Gates LLP has added Arturo (Art) Requenez II as a partner in the firm’s investment management/private funds and corporate/private equity practices. He joins K&L Gates from Foley & Lardner LLP, where he formerly served as chair of the investment management group and vice chair of the private equity and venture capital practice.
Requenez advises public and private companies, including investment funds, investment banks, corporate boards, entrepreneurs, and business owners, on a wide range of private equity, corporate, and international matters. With more than a decade and a half of experience in fund formation, U.S. and offshore securities offerings, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and international real estate deals, Requenez has counseled on transactions spanning more than 75 countries throughout Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
“Art brings the high quality talents to our global investment management practice that our clients expect, and further enhances the level of services we offer to clients of our practice,” said Michael Caccese, vice chairman for practice management and a co-leader of K&L Gates’ global financial services practice area.
Requenez assists clients in the creation and operation of an array of private equity funds — including buyout, mezzanine, credit, real estate, venture capital, offshore, multi-country, and geographically-focused funds — as well as on strategic and financial transactions such as buyouts, reorganizations, financings, recapitalizations, early stage investments, and joint ventures. He also provides strategic advice to private funds on a wide variety of other matters such as executive compensation, restructurings and dissolutions, regulatory investigations and audits, and complex structuring.
“Art’s private equity focus and cross-border transactional experience make him a perfect fit for our full-market, global corporate practice as well as a meaningful addition to both our Miami and New York offices,” stated Robert Zinn, co-leader of K&L Gates’ global corporate and transactional practice area.
Requenez’s addition further bolsters K&L Gates’ growing investment management practice, already one of the largest and most experienced investment management law firm practices in the United States and globally. The practice has added more than a dozen partners or of counsel since the start of 2015, including Peter Shea, Robert Sichel, and Derek Steingarten in the firm’s New York office and Brian Vargo in Pittsburgh this year.
With lawyers in offices across five continents, K&L Gates’ leading corporate practice is among the most substantial in the legal industry. Additions to the corporate practice in 2016 have included Stephen Tan in Taipei, Henry Wang in Beijing, Jill Louis in Dallas, Bryce Linsenmayer in Houston, Michelle Repp in Pittsburgh, Fatiha El-Boubsi in Brussels, Ian Liao in Shanghai, and Nick Humphrey, Hal Lloyd, and Daniel Atkin in Sydney.
