Veteran business aviation attorney Stewart H. Lapayowker is relocating Lapayowker Jet Counsel, P.A.’s offices to Lakeside Office Center in Plantation. Lapayowker and his team will continue to concentrate their practice on serving the legal needs of the worldwide business aviation community.
Lapayowker Jet Counsel, P.A.’s practice focuses on business aviation transactions throughout the United States, European Union, Central and South America, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. The firm assists clients with a variety of transactional matters related to aviation, including the sale, purchase, regulatory analysis, financing and management of corporate aircraft. The firm’s attorneys have extensive experience working with legal and tax departments of large public companies as well as private aircraft owners, helping design and implement appropriate planning objectives and operating structures.
Recently, Lapayowker assisted clients in the sale of a Boeing Business Jet, the implementation of a fleet transition, the acquisition of a new Cessna Latitude, the import of a Learjet for U.S. registration, and the acquisition of a Gulfstream Aerospace G550 and Bombardier Global 5000 aircraft.
Lapayowker attended the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania before earning his JD from Temple University James E. Beasley School of Law. He is Past-Chair of the National Business Aviation Association’s Tax and Regulatory Committee, past Chair of its Aircraft Transactions Working Group Up and a member of the Aviation Law Committee of The Florida Bar.
In addition to serving as managing shareholder of the firm, Lapayowker is also committed to supporting a variety of charitable causes, including Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (where he and his family are founding members of the Blue Wave Club), Debbie’s Dream Foundation (curing stomach cancer) and the Corporate Angel Network, which arranges transportation on corporate aircraft for cancer patients who cannot travel by commercial airline. Recently, he was presented with Debbie’s Dream Foundation’s Humanitarian of the Year Award.
Lapayowker has also teamed with a noted behavioral psychologist to develop Project Alert (Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Law Enforcement Working Together), a program designed to improve the interaction of law enforcement with young drivers that have ASD, the concepts of which have been incorporated by the Broward Sheriff's department in its supervisors’ manual.
