Imagineers; Wish Houses; and Dreams are about to come true; Make-A-Wish Southern Florida is one step closer to this reality. NAI Miami is pleased to announce they represented Make A Wish Southern Florida in the $8 million acquisition of approximately 2 acres of land located at 350 N.W. 6th Street on the west side of Downtown Miami where the newest Wish House in the United States will be constructed.
It sounds like a complex Hollywood produced children’s fantasy movie, but it was an actual assignment completed by NAI Miami brokers Joe Gallaher and Jeremy Larkin. Almost five years ago, the real estate selection committee of Make-A-Wish Southern Florida selected this team based on their expertise, dedication, and knowledge. They then tasked them with finding a prominent, yet comfortable environment for wish makers to help children’s dreams come true.
This Wish House will be a state-of-the-art command center for wish granters, children, the amazing team which supports them, their benefactors, fund raising professionals, and volunteers all focused on their primary purpose of granting children’s wishes. There was a long list of unique requirements including being centrally located with high visibility, easily accessible, and having sufficient land to create a unique structure to house the many components of a “Wish House”. With these items in hand, Gallaher and Larkin ventured forth to interpret their client’s needs, translating them into a viable location to purchase.
“Many of our clients provide intricate, and often challenging requirements,” Gallaher said. “Our job is to blend ideas with reality, interpret their driving intent and formulate a concrete vision. After 4+ years of searching the majority of Miami-Dade and Broward counties, sifting through 200+ potential locations, late nights at the office, long car rides, sizable tour packages innovative Google Earth geo-locating, multiple presentations to the real estate committee and Board of Directors, the search culminated with the selection of this downtown Miami location.”
“In theory, many of the properties checked most of the boxes. Our job was to find that one property which checked all of the boxes; never settling for good enough” Larkin said. “With a combined 45+ years in the Commercial Real Estate industry, we knew we had to find the perfect location.”
