Holy Cross Health has launched on-demand virtual visits, enabling patients to receive medical advice and care from the comfort of their own home.
Within one hour of creating an account, a member of the Holy Cross medical team can connect patients via video chat with a physician or they can complete a short online questionnaire.
“Virtual on-demand allows patients and their families access to safe, secure and trustworthy service from Holy Cross Health,” said Rich Van Rensselaer, the director of the emergency department at Holy Cross Health. “Most of the visits take only 15 minutes. We have also created a screening questionnaire specifically for COVID-19 based on CDC guidelines. Access to virtual on-demand has become even more important during this pandemic.”
The Holy Cross Health team of providers treat a variety of medical conditions virtually. Once a patient creates an online account, they can either connect via video or complete a short online interview to receive the best care.
During the online interview, patients answer a series of questions about how they feel and the symptoms they are experiencing. Patients may be asked to provide photos of areas of concern, such as a wound that is not healing. The online process is $25. A video visit is $50. Here the patient provides basic information about their symptoms before speaking with a provider during the video chat. If a prescription is part of the treatment plan, the physician will send the prescription directly to the patient’s pharmacy.
Provider hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Virtual visits are not meant to replace a follow up care visit with a primary care provider. For care related to an existing or chronic condition or to receive a medication refill, patients should contact their primary care physician.
