The Rotary Club of Weston honored local high school students on June 16, 2020, with an online ceremony that awarded approximately $150,000 in scholarships. The annual event, hosted virtually this year, celebrates young members of the community who demonstrate qualities of character reflecting the Rotary’s motto of “Service Above Self.”
The scholarships, which ranged from awards of several hundred dollars to full, two-year rides, went to 56 outstanding seniors from Cypress Bay High and The Sagemont School in Weston, Western High in Davie, and HANDY (Helping Abused Neglected Disadvantaged Youth) in Fort Lauderdale. Recipients were selected from hundreds of applicants who underwent an extensive interview process.
As a continuation of its dedication to the local community, Fort Lauderdale-based Freedland HarwinValori, PL, a consumer justice law firm, once again served as the event’s Title Sponsor. Other major sponsors included the Broward Education Foundation, Acuderm, Bank on It, Gecko Parx, Huntington Learning Center, Jaffer Family Foundation and Anidjar & Levine.
