Young At Art Museum in Davie is excited to host a variety of weekly Summer Art Camps. Join YAA in-person or virtually for a creative adventure each week. Young artists can explore a variety of different projects and artistic techniques in YAA’s popular Art Exploration Camp or focus on honing their skills with specific mediums in the museum’s specialty camps including Drawing, Painting and Ceramics & Sculpture. Campers can also get digital at home in YAA’s new Virtual Digital Art Camp and Virtual Video Game Design Camp with instruction from YAA’s teaching artists and Emmy Award winning artist Rob Cabrera.
In-person camps include guided exploration through the museum’s newly updated exhibits with sketching exercises, story-time, demonstrations, video screenings, i-Spy games and more! Camp enrollment is limited to ensure proper social distancing and adherence to cleaning and safety guidelines provided by the CDC and DCF. Campers will be screened prior to entering the museum each day and will be sent home if they present any symptoms.
All camps limited to 8 children per class.
In-person Art Exploration Camp
Ages 5-6 & 6-12; June 15- August 18
1 week sessions: $285 per session; YAA Members $255 per session
Each week is a new adventure with themed projects in a variety of media from ceramics, drawing, painting & mixed media. Experience the museum’s galleries, special guests, movie days and more!
In-person Ceramics and Sculpture Camp
Ages 8-14; June 15- July 3
2 week sessions; $575 per session; YAA Members $525 per session; Materials and equipment provided
Discover the exciting process of hand-building and wheel-throwing in our professionally-equipped ceramics studio. Construct mixed media masterpieces from an array of materials, blending a variety of techniques and artistic genres.
In-person Drawing Camp
Ages 8-14; July 6- August 7
1 week sessions; $285 per session; YAA Members $260 per session; Materials and tools provided
Use classical drawing techniques as you draw still lives, landscapes and learn methods to create your own masterpieces. Sharpen your drawing skills using charcoal, pen & ink, chalk and oil pastels.
In-person Painting Camp
Ages 8-14; July 13- August 14
1 week sessions; $285 per session; YAA Members $260 per session; Materials and tools provided
Unleash your imagination while learning how to compose unique paintings using color and new techniques to paint self-portraits, landscapes and more.
Virtual Digital Art Camp
Ages 8-17; June 15- August 14
2 week sessions; $475 per session; YAA Members $425 per session
Design digital drawings, special effects, moving pictures and animations as you learn from Emmy Award Winning Artist Rob Cabrera’s Digital Art Curriculum. Each session introduces new techniques and apps as well as the foundation of illustration principles. Students leave with a USB of their work.
A limited number of loaner iPads are available to be checked out for the duration of the camp session. A $250 fully refundable deposit is required and will be returned for iPads that return on-time and in their original condition.
Virtual Video Game Design Camp
Ages 9-17; June 22-July 31
Learn how video games are designed and create your own! Daily activities include character design, level building, beginning coding and gallery exploration. Students receive a URL at the end of the session to play their video games.
