Holy Cross Hospital has honored two outstanding employees for their extraordinary performance, dedication and commitment to the non-profit hospital in Fort Lauderdale.

Leader of the Year
Holy Cross named Coconut Creek resident Dawn Bard as its 2018-2019 Leader of the Year. Bard has served as a sterile processing manager for the non-profit hospital over the past three years. In her role, she manages and maintains the sterility of medical instruments and ensures quality control across multiple departments.

“Dawn is team-oriented at all times,” said Holy Cross Hospital President and CEO Patrick A. Taylor, M.D. “She clearly values her coworkers and is a true servant leader. She is the first to assist in all projects and lend a helping hand wherever needed. We are proud to honor her with our prestigious Leader of the Year award.”

Associate of the Year
Holy Cross also named Miramar resident Sandia Mezadieu Roberts as its 2018-2019 Associate of the Year.

Roberts has been an assistant nurse manager at Holy Cross since 2003. Her responsibilities include supervising staff, serving as a liaison between staff, managers, patients and physicians, and performing professional nursing care. Roberts also has served as a case management clinical care coordinator at Holy Cross since 2013 and currently serves as the hospital’s lead transitional care coordinator. In that role, she coordinates discharge planning, arranges home health services and patient transfers to skilled nursing facilities, and provides support to physicians, patients and their families. Roberts has more than 23 years of nursing experience. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Miami in 1996 and her master’s degree in nursing from Western Governors University in 2015.

“Sandia inspires everyone she meets with her compassion and friendliness,” Dr. Taylor said. “Not only has she touched the lives of countless patients, she also supports her colleagues every day in all of their professional and personal endeavors. She truly represents the very best of Holy Cross.”

Bard and Roberts were selected among the more than 3,000 Associates that Holy Cross employs across its hospital campus, urgent care centers and Holy Cross Medical Group Offices in Broward and Palm Beach counties.
