Alison Smith Named to Nova Southeastern University School of Law Board of Governors

Alison Smith, partner at Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman, has been appointed to serve on the NSU Shepard Broad College of Law Board of Governors. She was appointed unanimously, and will be part of a committed group of men and women who draw on their experience and education for the benefit of the greater law school community by providing time, financial support and expertise.

“I am honored to be a member of the Board of Governors at the NSU Shepard Broad College of Law, and have the opportunity to team up with the dedicated individuals who work tirelessly to improve and enhance the experience,” said Smith. “As a proud double alumnus of NSU, I am simply thrilled and humbled to be given the opportunity to give back to NSU, where I made lifelong friendships and learned professionalism and collegiality. NSU has made such a difference in my life and I look forward to making a difference there.”

Smith, an alumnus of both NSU and its law school, also serves on its newly created Downtown Counsel Association Steering Committee. Her commitment to secondary education is further represented by her membership on the Criminal Justice Advisory Board of Keiser University.

Smith is currently on the board of directors for the Broward County Bar Association, a past president of the Caribbean Bar Association, and also the immediate past chair of the Board of Directors for the Legal Aid Service of Broward County and Coast-to-Coast Legal Aid. She focuses her practice in the areas of labor and employment, commercial litigation and administrative and regulatory law, with direct experience handling cases involving civil rights and constitutional law claims.

Smith, graduated magna cum laude from Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad College of Law, and was valedictorian of her class.
