Coral Gables Trust Company (CGTC), the largest independent and privately held trust company headquartered in South Florida with over $1.5 billion in assets under management, is pleased to announce that Managing Director John Harris has been appointment to the Board of Directors of the Coral Gables Community Foundation.
With nearly 30 years of experience in wealth management, trust and estate planning, private banking, and commercial lending, Harris joins a venerated group of leaders who serve the Foundation and its pivotal outreach.
“It is a privilege to serve the Coral Gables Community Foundation and represent The City Beautiful in its ongoing growth,” said Harris. “I look forward to furthering the organization’s tradition of excellence and lending my insights in the financial sector to this tremendous cause.”
Established in 1991, the Coral Gables Community Foundation acts as a philanthropic link between individuals and corporations that are looking to positively impact the community and promote its success. By bringing together beneficiaries and benefactors, the Foundation has awarded more than $7 million to worthy causes to date, including assistance to elderly and disabled residents, providing dental care for children in need, sponsoring cultural activities, giving awards for academics, dance, and music scholarships, and hosting seminars to educate the public on important health, finance, and estate-planning issues.
Harris has enjoyed many decades of active membership in a number of community organizations and charitable causes including The United Way of Miami-Dade County, The Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, the International Wine and Food Society, and the Georgetown University Alumni Association. He is currently involved with The Miami Chapter of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and The Miami Estate Planning Council, as well as the Real Property Probate Trust Law Section, the Elder Law Section and the Tax Section of the Florida Bar, The Broward Estate Planning Council, the Florida Justice Association, the ACTEC fellows program, the Dade Trial Lawyers, and the Coral Gables Bar Association.
As a financial advisor, Harris has worked with a myriad of affluent and high-net-worth-individuals, families, foundations and institutions on matters concerning investment management, wealth preservation, trust, private banking, commercial lending, financial and estate planning. His keen industry knowledge and leadership have played key roles in CGTC’s growth and status as a leading provider of wealth investment management and trust services throughout Florida.
