CNB establishing headquarters in Downtown Miami and Coral Gables

The Miami skyline is getting a new dash of color with the addition of City National Bank’s logo at the top of the city’s most iconic skyscraper.

The bank’s logo now emblazons the north and south elevations of the Miami Tower. It’s the most visible sign of City National Bank’s planned move into new dual headquarters at the Miami Tower and the Coral Gables building it recently purchased.

The bank’s operational headquarters will move from its 25 W. Flagler Street building to the Miami Tower during the summer, and the executive headquarters and private bank will be relocated from 1450 Brickell Ave. to Coral Gables in late March.

“City National Bank has been part of this community for more than 70 years and we have grown significantly during the last ten years to become one of the largest banks in the state,” City National Bank President & CEO Jorge Gonzalez said. “Our vision is to become the iconic bank in Florida. This new positioning on the Miami skyline represents that vision, growth, and the contribution CNB has made to our community during the last 70 years. In many ways, City National Bank has grown up along with this vibrant city we call home.”

CNB’s operations have been based in downtown Miami for decades and will move several blocks to the landmark building. The bank will occupy more than 100,000 square feet spread over five floors in the Miami Tower. CNB also has a banking center on the first floor. Designed by Acclaimed architect I.M. Pei , the 47-story Miami Tower was built in 1987. The landmark building is often lit in colors to celebrate holidays and other significant community events.

The new Coral Gables headquarters will add an additional 37,000 square feet, primarily for the bank’s executive and client-facing divisions.

As a result of the moves, CNB is marketing its Flagler Street building. Located next to the Dade County Courthouse, it has more than 139,000 square feet of space and sits in an Urban Core zoning district, which allows for the highest density and vertical development in Miami. Various tenants also lease space in the building.

The Miami Tower will be lit in CNB’s colors this week in celebration of the new signage. The hourglass in City National Bank’s logo is inspired by the work of artist Joan Miro and represents the value CNB places on its clients’ time, the precision with which it serves them and the long term relationships it seeks to build with them.
