South Florida’s Premiere Jazz Lounge Serves Up Music, Murals and Mixology

Miguel Pilgram, CEO of Pilgram Group is no stranger to the South Florida business community. Pilgram has purchased a total of three buildings in the Sistrunk and Downtown Fort Lauderdale area. A seasoned real estate developer, Pilgram understands trends, industry insights and how to invest in large scale redevelopment projects that make sense. Downtown Fort Lauderdale’s NW 6th Street is experiencing a major culture shift. Millennials are moving in, co-working spaces and cool coffee shops are popping up and it’s slowly rebuilding the artistic richness it once had.

An avid traveler, lover of jazz music and the arts, Pilgram successfully opened the doors to a jazz lounge on April 14, 2018. NYSW Jazz Lounge features both indoor and terrace seating, a bar menu, and a wide range of jazz styles, as well as spoken word performances, colorful murals painted by DJ The Artiste and Sunday afternoon jam sessions for local artists. “We’ll present all sorts of musicians but will always try to showcase local talent,” says Pilgram. The lounge, located at 107 SW 6th Street has been a tremendous success since opening and has become a local favorite amongst artists like Tito Puente Jr. and Brooke Alford just to name a few.

In addition to the opening of the jazz lounge, Pilgram also opened a fast-casual eatery named New York Subs & Wings which is adjacent to the jazz lounge that serves up wings, cheesesteaks, burgers and more. Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. this eatery caters to the local Downtown Fort Lauderdale business community and residents.

On May 10, 2018, NYSW Jazz Lounge was presented with the 2018 Fort Lauderdale Community Appearance Award. This is an annual awards program that recognizes outstanding new construction and renovation projects that enhance, improve, and beautify the City.

From his discipline in assembling real estate holdings, to his creativity in renovating/repurposing them, to his passion for helping those who need a hand, he is a unique force in the South Florida business world. “My goal is to leave a legacy,” he states , with typical succinctness. “I want to leave my ‘communities’ -- both my family and the Sistrunk/downtown areas -- stronger, happier and more vibrant than before.
