Volunteer board governs the Broward Center for the Performing Arts

Long-time advocates and supporters of the arts Bonnie Barnett and Rebecca F. Bratter have been appointed to the Performing Arts Center Authority, the 13-member governing body of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. Members are appointed to a four-year term by five contributing partners, which include Broward County, the City of Fort Lauderdale, the Downtown Development Authority, the School Board of Broward County and the Broward Performing Arts Foundation.

Bonnie Barnett has served on the Broward Cultural Council since 1990 and was appointed by the Broward Performing Arts Foundation, where she has served as a board member since 2005. She was a founding member of Funding Arts Broward (FAB!) and has served on the boards of Florida Grand Opera, the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival, ArtServe, the Museum of Art and the Hollywood Art and Culture Center. Statewide, she was on the Florida Arts Council for eight years and chaired the state's Art in Public Places program for six. Bonnie and her husband, Robert Kagan, MD, were among the founders of the Broward Center whose contributions to the first capital campaign helped build the Center more than 25 years ago.

Appointed by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners, Rebecca Bratter is the Deputy Managing Shareholder of Greenspoon Marder. Rebecca is part of the firm's Executive Team and works directly with the firm's co-founders Gerry Greenspoon and Michael Marder. Rebecca's broad responsibilities range from formulating firm strategy for growth and development to working closely with the firm's rising stars. In addition, she leads Greenspoon Marder’s efforts in connection with charitable and community service efforts. Rebecca is actively involved with charitable organizations including the Dan Marino Foundation, Here’s Help and Arc Broward and co-founded her own charitable foundation - Kids Can. Rebecca is also a member of the board of the Young at Art Museum and the Student Life Committee at the University School at NSU where her sons, Logan and Max, are students.

The Performing Arts Center Authority members represent every region of Broward County. Barnett and Bratter join Authority members including: Chair Jack Loos, Vice Chair Barbara H. Jones, Treasurer Charles L. Palmer, Secretary Barbra Stern, John E. Abdo, Joseph C. Amaturo, Austin Forman, Robert B. Lochrie III, John M. Milledge, Ann Murray and George I. Platt.
