The law firm of Colson Hicks Eidson is pleased to announce that attorney Stephanie A. Casey has been named partner.

Casey joined Colson Hicks Eidson in November 2012. Prior to joining the firm, she served as judicial clerk for United States District Judge Marcia G. Cooke and worked at a large, international law firm in Washington, DC. She practices in the areas of commercial litigation, personal injury, and class action litigation. She has represented U.S. and international clients in a wide range of antitrust, securities, commercial litigation, qui tam, and white collar defense matters in state and federal trial and appellate courts in Florida, New York and Washington DC.

Casey’s efforts have been instrumental in the success of many of the firm’s high-profile cases. Casey has negotiated the favorable settlement of a partnership dispute involving a high-end Miami Beach nightclub; secured dismissal of fraud, defamation, and conspiracy claims against a foreign bank; obtained summary judgment in favor of a hair care company in a contract dispute concerning its ownership interest in certain hair care formulas; and obtained a $4 million judgment on behalf of a foreign resort hotel company and an industrial plastic manufacturer defrauded in an international Ponzi scheme. Casey has also represented clients in multi-district litigations, including In re Air Crash at Georgetown, Guyana, on July 30, 2011 (Caribbean Airlines Flight BW 523) and In re American Airlines Flight 331.

Active within the legal profession, Casey currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Miami-Dade Chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers and the Board of Directors of the South Florida Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. She is also a member of the American Association for Justice; American Bar Association; Miami-Dade County Bar Association; and the Florida Bar, Federal Court Practice Committee.

Casey received her law degree, magna cum laude as a member of the Order of the Coif, from American University, Washington College of Law. She earned her bachelor of arts in political science and communications, cum laude, from Boston College. She is licensed to practice in Florida, New York and Washington D.C. A native of Brazil, Casey speaks Portuguese fluently.
