The Frank Art Gallery Names Joshua Carden Chief Curator

Joshua Carden has been named Chief Curator of The Frank C. Ortis Art Gallery in the Charles F. Dodge City Center in Pembroke Pines.

In his new position, Carden is responsible for engaging the community through arts and overseeing the gallery’s programming and exhibitions. This includes presenting workshops and lectures, marketing efforts and collaborating with different departments in the city.

Over the last eight years, Carden has established himself in the art world through his experience curating numerous exhibitions and executing large events with several diverse arts organizations, including governmental and non-profit organizations. In addition to curatorial skills, Carden has experience in art education, managing gallery marketing initiatives and fine art appraisals.

“Joshua’s extensive background, experience and passion for the arts are a perfect fit for The Frank,” said Holly Bonkowski, Division Director of Cultural Arts for the City of Pembroke Pines Recreation and Cultural Arts Department. “He has great plans moving forward as we continue to inspire, engage and entertain the community with all The Frank has to offer.”

A Miami resident, Carden graduated magna cum laude from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in art history and a master’s degree in arts administration from Savannah College of Art and Design.

The Frank art gallery will showcase multi-disciplinary inclusive exhibitions to foster connections, initiate cultural change and promote innovation.
