U.S. Century Bank proudly welcomes Bernardo B. Fernandez, Jr., M.D. as the newest member of its Board of Directors. The addition of Dr. Fernandez brings the board’s number back to six members, as it was prior to the appointment of Alex Acosta as U.S. Secretary of Labor.

Dr. Fernandez is the Chief Executive Officer of Baptist Health Medical Group where he leads more than 180 physicians in a variety of specialties across Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe counties. Prior to assuming that role, the native of Cuba headed up the world-renowned academic medical center Cleveland Clinic of Florida as president and CEO.
An active member of the community, Dr. Fernandez currently serves as the Distinguished Chair of the John and Margaret Krupa Charitable Foundation. He is also a member of the Orange Bowl Committee and is on the boards of the Healthnetwork Foundation and the East Ridge at Cutler Bay Corporate Advisory Board, a subsidiary of SantaFe HealthCare. He also holds the position of membership chair for the YPO Miami/Fort Lauderdale Gold Chapter since 2015.
Dr. Fernandez received his medical degree from the Ponce School of Medicine in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and completed an internal medicine residency and vascular medicine fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. In addition to being board-certified by the American Board of Vascular Medicine and a Fellow of the Society of Vascular Medicine and the American College of Physicians, Dr. Fernandez holds an MBA from the University of Miami’s School of Business and is a graduate of the Wharton School’s Executive Development Program.
