Miami Bridge Youth & Family Services’ CEO, Dorcas Wilcox, was honored by the School Board of Miami-Dade County earlier this month for her tremendous dedication to at-risk teens and families in poverty, working as a licensed clinical social worker and certified addictions professional in New York, Ohio and Florida.

“Dorcas has made an outstanding contribution to Miami Bridge, not only because of her management skill set, but for her genuine concern for these kids and their families. It is evident to all that her impact is both positive and productive,” stated Steve Hope, Deputy CEO and Chief Financial Officer of Miami Bridge Youth & Family Services, Inc.

Dr. Wilcox is now celebrating her second year as the Chief Executive Officer of Miami Bridge Youth and Family Services, Inc. She was employed for more than a decade by Miami-Dade County Public Schools and most recently as a clinical director in the not-for-profit arena. Her passion and subsequent mission is to serve those who are disenfranchised, encouraging them - every step of the way - to reach their life’s potential.

As CEO of Miami Bridge, she oversees the daily operations of the organization’s two campuses. Through her leadership, and work with staff and the Board of Directors, Dr. Wilcox has restructured Miami Bridge, increased community awareness and improved the organization’s fiscal standing. All the while taking out time to have one-on-one conversations with the kids and teens, letting them know she is there to lend a listening ear and a helping hand.

Miami Bridge was established in 1985 and serves as Miami-Dade County’s only 24-hour emergency shelter for children and teens in crisis ages 10-17.
