The YMCA of South Florida announces the appointment of its new Board Chair, Jackie Howe, Partner, Shutts & Bowen; and two new board members, Julie Edwards, Chief Marketing Officer, Brightline; and David Tabb, Owner, Welcomemat Services.
Howe, who is a partner with the law firm of Shutts & Bowen LLP, and who practices real estate, business and commercial litigation, including class action and complex civil litigation out of the firm’s Fort Lauderdale office, will lead the $53 million leading non-profit with 9 Family Centers, and more than 200 afterschool, preschool, special needs, sports, camp and youth programs, and senior health outreach sites. With 20 years of experience as a litigation attorney, she has represented national and local companies in a variety of business and real estate disputes. She’s also briefed appeals in the State of Florida, tried matters in alternate dispute resolution forums and served as an adjunct professor at Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad Law Center. She has been a YMCA Board Member since 2009, most recently serving as Vice Chair.

Edwards, Chief Marketing Officer, Brightline, is responsible for driving marketing strategy and program innovation for Brightline, a new intercity express passenger rail for Florida and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Florida East Coast Industries. With more than 25 years of in-depth marketing and branding expertise, Julie is responsible for all communications and revenue generation for the company.
Since launching his franchise, Tabb, Owner, Welcomemat Services, has grown his business steadily and received multiple awards for his success, including Welcomemat’s Rookie of the Year, Trainer of the Year and Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business of the Year. He has also been the Board Chair for the Greater Hollywood YMCA Advisory Board, and contributes as a board member of several other local business groups.
