Clinics Can Help, a West Palm Beach-based nonprofit organization bringing medical equipment and supplies to those in need and enhancing quality of life, is proud to announce the addition of Thomas A. Robilotta to its Board of Directors.

Robilotta, a retired, enlisted serviceman of the United States Air Force and also a USAF retired civilian, who served in the Pentagon, has been involved with the organization since soon after his son Leonardo was born.

“Leo had a brain bleed was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus, the accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain. We were medically evacuated, he had multiple surgeries, including two brain surgeries,” Robilotta said. “He has subsequently been diagnosed with spastic quadriplegia, epilepsy, hypertonia (high muscle tone), and hypotonia (low muscle tone). He cannot walk, crawl, stand, sit, or speak. Clinics Can Help has been a godsend for us. Without their support of medical equipment and supplies that are vital to Leo’s health, we would not be able to see our son thrive.”

While physically challenged, Leonardo possesses a great attitude, and his parents nurture that. Their days as caregivers mostly consist of transporting Leo to therapy sessions, medical appointments, and working with him at home. Seeing fist hand the true benefits of having a place like Clinics Can Help available for their son’s needs is what drove Robilotta to want to get more involved with the organization.

Continued Robilotta, “As caregivers, we experience obstacles - physical, logistical, and financial - on a daily basis. Despite having what most people consider a very good health insurance plan, there are so many expenses that are just overwhelming. Clinics Can Help has helped to alleviate so much of that burden by helping us to get specialized equipment for Leo that helps him, and really us, have a great quality of life. ”

“I chose to serve on the Board of Directors of Clinics Can Help because we have found that fighting through our obstacles have brought us in contact with the most generous people and organizations. That, along with being consistently awed by my son’s indomitable spirit, has been the silver lining in all of this,” he ended.

Robilotta and his family reside in Lake Worth, Fl. In addition to his above mentioned military service, he was part of the United States Foreign Service, serving in Germany and Russia, as a Satellite and Communications Engineer. Later, he served as the Chief of the Communications Center in American Embassies in Israel and Mexico, respectively.
