Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale Names Justin Boise as Stroke Program Coordinator

Justin Boise, BA, BSN, RN, SCRN, has been named stroke program coordinator for the AHCA (Agency for Health Care Administration) Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center and Joint Commission Certified Primary Stroke Center at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale.

In addition to maintaining protocols and ­developing and implementing performance improvement initiatives, Mr. Boise will plan symposiums, educate staff regarding acute stroke care and perform community outreach and public education. He most recently served as stroke program coordinator at Florida Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale.

A stroke certified registered nurse, Mr. Boise received his BSN in nursing from the Miami Dade College Benjamin Leon School of Nursing in Miami following his bachelor’s degree in liberal arts at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. He is currently enrolled as an MSN candidate at the University of West Florida in Pensacola.

Mr. Boise’s certifications and specialized training includes Stroke Certified Registered Nurse (SCRN), National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale assessment certification, HIV peers education certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support certifications and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ training in culturally competent nursing care.

Active in the community, the Miami resident has served as leader of the Community Health Mission in Immokalee twice with Miami Dade College, co-editor of the Haitian American Nurses Association newsletter and leader of the Miami Dade School of Nursing delegation to Florida Nurses Association Tallahassee Advocacy Days 2016.  He was awarded the President’s Volunteer Service Award in recognition for his advocacy in HIV/AIDS prevention.

The Comprehensive Stroke Center at Holy Cross Hospital has received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get with the Guidelines® Stroke Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award for seven consecutive years (2010-2016) and this year achieved Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite status, demonstrating its commitment to providing the most appropriate stroke treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines based on the latest scientific evidence.
