Arts Garage Tackles Programming and Accountability

12/11/16

Recently appointed President & CEO Marjorie Waldo and the Board of Directors of the Arts Garage are making significant changes to Arts Garage programming for 2017.

With an eye toward renewed accountability, the "Cultural Powerhouse" has spent the last month in an expansive review of the venue's diverse programming including an analysis of the fiscal responsibility of the varied offerings of both music and theater.

In an effort to recoup more than a $60,000 loss during the first two month's of this fiscal year's theater season, the Arts Garage has decided to cancel the remaining two productions in this season's theater line up.

Waldo assures her patrons that she and the Board of Directors will returning to the venue's theater roots next season. "Theater is a vital part of the Arts Garage line up and one that is very close to my heart." Waldo said.  "We must, however, take a step back to review the model we use here at the Arts Garage to produce theater.  Finding ways to produce relevant and engaging performances that our patrons love and our budget can support will be my goal over the next several months."

Board of Director's President Chuck Halberg said, "We are grateful for our loyal patronage over the last five years.  We are grateful for your support and patience as we navigate this transition."
