KJM Capital Acquires Watkins Refrigerated

12/6/16

KJM Capital, LLC, an Orlando, FL-based private equity firm, announced it has acquired Sunco Carriers, d/b/a Watkins Refrigerated (Lakeland, FL), a privately held, temperature-controlled carrier. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Raymond James & Associates, Inc. advised Watkins Associated Industries on the sale of Watkins Refrigerated.

Watkins Refrigerated is a family-owned refrigerated carrier founded in the mid-1930s and operates predominantly in the southeastern United States. The company operates and manages more than 200 tractors and 400 refrigerated trailers. Watkins was recently recognized by the American Trucking Association with a third-place award for safety among all truckload carriers in the 20 to 50 million-mile category.

The acquisition complements KJM Capital’s acquisition of Lexington, SC-based Charles Gantt Trucking in April 2015. Together, the carriers offer full truckload, temperature-controlled transport services with a modern fleet to blue chip shippers nationwide.

About KJM Capital:

KJM Capital, LLC was founded by Kenneth J. Meister and his partners to acquire leading lower to middle market companies that serve business customers. According to Meister, several additional acquisitions are planned for the near term, as the company continues to build a family of temperature-controlled, truckload carriers that will be integrated on a common transportation management software platform to offer seamless services to customers.
