Less than a month after announcing a $5 million dollar donation, Miami Jewish Health set a new fundraising record during this year’s annual Give Miami Day, surpassing last year’s amount by nearly 14 percent.
 
The $115,894 raised during Miami’s largest philanthropic event, Give Miami Day on Nov. 17, came from 110 donations. Give Miami Day is a unique 24-hour online giving event.
 
“Our loyal donors rallied with dedicated philanthropic support. We are also pleased with the increase in number of new donors who helped us exceed last year’s record of almost $100,000. We are overwhelmed by the results and so very grateful for our community’s generosity,” said Churé Gladwell, vice president and chief development officer of Miami Jewish Health.
 
The earlier $5 million donation from Miami philanthropist Edie Laquer will assist in building the future EmpathiCare™ Village, a state-of-the-art residential complex for the care of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other memory-related disorders. The EmpathiCare™ Village at Miami Jewish Health will be the first memory support residence of its kind in the world, creating an environment in which residents and their families can continue to experience many of the joys of daily living.
