Edith G. Osman
Carlton Fields Shareholder Edith G. Osman has been elected State Delegate for the state of Florida in the American Bar Association’s House of Delegates. She will serve a three-year term.
As State Delegate, Osman will Chair Florida’s 31 person delegation in the House of Delegates. In that capacity she will be a liaison between the ABA and the Florida Bar Board of Governors and voluntary bar associations in the state. She will also be a member of the ABA Nominating Committee which selects and nominates all of the association’s officers.
The House of Delegates consists of 589 members. Action taken by the House of Delegates on specific issues becomes official policy of the ABA, which represents lawyers from every corner of the United States, practicing in every field of law and working in every professional capacity.
Osman is a Past President of the Florida Bar. She was also president of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers both statewide and in Dade County. She has served in the ABA’s House of Delegates representing the Florida Bar since 1998. She served on the ABA Board of Governors from 2010-2013 where she represented District 8 (Florida and Texas). She is currently a member of the Standing Committee on Meetings and Travel and previously served of the Rule of Law Initiative Committee, the Commission on Women in the Profession, the Standing Committee on Judicial Independence, the Standing Committee on Disaster Relief and the Standing Committee on Bar Services.
At Carlton Fields, Osman chairs the firm’s Family Law group. Her practice includes, complex matrimonial and family law, both domestic and international, business litigation and mediation. She is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Civil Mediator and a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator.
