Cancer Alliance of Help and Hope, the organization easing the financial burden for qualified local cancer patients by paying their non-medical bills and providing information resources, is proud to announce the additions of three new members to its Board of Directors – Janet Levy, Judi Richards and Barbara Zand.
Janet Levy of Palm Beach is a public health advocate and philanthropist, who has dedicated part of her career to advancing support and resources for young stroke victims. Her work included lobbying for several health care laws in the Connecticut legislature. Levy is very involved with current health care issues, most notably in relation to neurology. She is a strong supporter of the University of Miami, Department of Neurology and Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, part of UHealth – The University of Miami Health System, the American Heart/Stroke Association; and local charities that focus on education, health and homelessness.
Judi Richards of Palm Beach has built a reputation for being a fundraiser extraordinaire and advocate for her work with several nonprofit agencies, including American Heart Association, the Palm Beach County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Tri County Animal Rescue and The American Red Cross. For more than 18 years, Richards has demonstrated leadership and vision in her roles, inspiring others to contribute to worthwhile missions and communicating the agencies’ impact on the community.
Barbara Zand of Palm Beach Gardens has an extensive resume in board leadership, serving as a board member for the American Friends of the Ludwig Foundation of Cuba and Burnetts Cove Residents Association, in addition to her appointment to the Cancer Alliance’s board. She is a former board member for the Simon Wiesenthal New Leadership Council, UJA Northern Westchester, Pocantico Hills Resident Association and the Joan Lombardi Dance Company. Professionally, Zand has been a product manager for Armour Handcrafts, Inc., an account executive for Norrito Advertising, Inc. and a teacher for Sutton Middle School and Denver Public Schools. She was most recently a volunteer for New York Medical College, assisting with experimental research and program projects, grant applications and journal articles.
