Chuck Halberg, incoming President of the Arts Garage Board of Directors, today announced that former school principal and education consultant, Marjorie Waldo, has been appointed the new President & CEO of the acclaimed Delray Beach venue. Waldo will work to retain the venue’s award-winning programming, while advancing and developing other critical aspects of the venue’s mission.

“Marjorie Waldo is an outstanding choice for President &CEO of Arts Garage,” said Delray Beach Mayor Cary Glickstein. “As a former high-profile educator, she brings a comprehensive skill set to the organization. Under her stewardship, we look forward to enhanced educational programming, expanded community outreach and a strong guiding presence that will lead Arts Garage to the next phase of success.”

Waldo brings a vast array of talents to the position which will help Arts Garage meet the city’s, the CRA’s and the community’s expectations for the venue.

In her 25 year career as an educator, Waldo has amassed a variety of accomplishments including managing budgets up to $8.5 million, developing a non-profit’s five year strategic plan, increasing funding through grant writing& fundraising, establishing and implementing curriculum and creating operational accountability.

“I am honored to be a part of this outstanding organization,” said Waldo. “Arts Garage is a dynamic venue that has brought so much to the South Florida community. I look forward to leading the organization’s growth and community engagement.”

For Waldo, becoming part of the Arts Garage team is a return to her roots.

“I received my BA in Drama from the University of Virginia, so I appreciate the incredible talent that this venue showcases and nurtures,” she said. “I am thrilled to utilize my expertise to fully develop its mission.”

Waldo, who received her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from FAU, has spent much of her career serving at-risk and minority students. For twelve years, her work as principal of Tomorrow’s Promise Community School, created an environment that led to the high school graduation of over 200 recovered dropouts.

Waldo’s passion for bestowing a sense of belonging and trust helped numerous students overcome the often debilitating issues of poverty, substance dependency, child abuse and other critical societal issues. Waldo’s role at Arts Garage will allow her to combine all of her prior experiences to elevate the venue to a new level of excellence.
