United Way of Miami-Dade taps Matthew Anderson and Jeffrey Gordon as co-chairs of United Way Young Leaders group for the 2016 – 2017 fiscal year. Young Leaders has nearly 900 up-and-comers who each make an annual gift of $1,000 or more to United Way. As co-chairs, the duo will spearhead a 40-member executive committee charged with fostering participation from current members, garner new ones and shape the direction of the group.
“We’re proud to have Matt back in our ranks and it is great to have Jeffrey join him,” Harve A. Mogul, president and CEO of United Way of Miami-Dade, said. “We are excited to have them lead an inspiring group of young professionals who are leaving their mark on Miami-Dade.”
Last year, Young Leaders reached new heights, surpassing its highest fundraising goal of $165,000 to benefit United Way’s work to build a stronger Miami through education, financial stability and health. Young Leaders enjoys a series of year-round networking and volunteer activities that provide personal and professional growth opportunities. A few annual Young Leader events include: a Mural Painting Project at a Miami-Dade County Public School; Build Your Own Brunch; Luncheon with Leaders series, where the group learns from a C level executive; Read for the Record, a national initiative to raise awareness for early literacy; bowling; and Happy Hours for a Cause to network and mingle, among many others.
Now in his second term as Young Leaders co-chair, Matthew Anderson is also a senior associate at Foundry Commercial, where he leads the South Florida Tenant Advisory Services platform alongside industry veteran, Randy Olen. Before joining Foundry Commercial, Anderson was senior associate at Akko Group. Anderson started his career at the third largest commercial real estate firm in the world, Colliers International, prior to that he worked as an associate at the Bank of New York Mellon in Boston, MA. He holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and international relations from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. In addition to his role at United Way, Anderson is an active member of the South Florida community and has dedicated his time to leadership roles with various organizations, including: The Barton G. Kids Hear Now Foundation, The Beacon Council's New Leaders Taskforce, Seraphic Fire, Lowe Art Museum and the American Diabetes Association. He is also a 2011-2012 Leadership Miami graduate.
Jeffrey Gordon is a Senior Associate at Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL). He specializes in corporate tenant representation with a focus on new business origination and strategic client advisory. Before joining JLL brokerage, Gordon was a senior advisor with the acquired Cresa South Florida team. Prior to working at Cresa South Florida, Gordon represented tenants and end users, while employed at Newmark Grubb Knight Frank. Before his career in real estate, Gordon worked in business development with a New York City startup. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and economics from the University of Vermont.
