This month, Ron Atapattu is very proud and honored to be appointed the Chair of the Beacon Council’s Trade and Logistics Committee. International trade is vital to the economy of Miami-Dade County because the industry supports over 100,000 jobs and is one of the industries with the highest paying wages in the local community. These jobs offer economic prosperity for many residents, whose purchasing power is spread throughout the other industries and communities in South Florida.
They consider Miami a gateway to Latin America. The city is strategically located for serving the Americas by air, sea and telecommunications, plus there is a skilled multicultural/multilingual workforce. Showcasing these benefits for both trade and logistics means more companies will choose Miami-Dade as a base for their regional or global hubs, offering more jobs to the local community. The Miami-Dade International trade and logistics community is a cultural melting pot, with people and companies from virtually every region of the world.
The Beacon Council is doing the important work of attracting business to Miami Dade County – everything from Fortune 500s and multinationals to small local businesses – and Ron is truly looking forward to helping make an impact. There are many opportunities to make a positive impact in the Council and in the community that we live and work.
